September
We’re Keeping the Good Times Rollin’ into September!
There’s something about September in Kelowna. The patio’s still warm, the music’s still pumpin’, and we’ve got an epic lineup of events to welcome in the next season. To kick off the month we’ll be wrapping up our August cribbage tournament with a competitive finale, bringing back Mario Kart ‘64, and keeping the live music nights going strong.
Here’s everything that’s happening the first half of September.
From the Brewery
Salted Lime Lager
We’re not ready to say goodbye to summer just yet, and we’re holding onto it the best way we know how, with this refreshing summer sipper.
Our Salted Lime Lager combines a crisp rice lager base with zesty lime and just the right amount of sea salt. At 4% ABV with a next-to-nothing bitterness, it’s basically summer in a glass. This is the type of beer that makes you want to linger on the patio a little longer, and you know, we just might.
Classic Pilsner “Czech Style”
When the wildfires forced Giant’s Head Brewing to shut their doors for weeks, it hit hard. To offer them some support, we’ll be pouring their Classic Pilsner in our tasting room for a limited time! All the revenue from these sales will be donated directly to wildfire relief efforts in Summerland.
Their Classic Czech Style Pilsner is carefully crafted with Pilsen Malt and Saaz hops. At 5.2% ABV, this clear, pale golden beer features spicy and floral aromas and a clean, crisp finish. Perfect sipping for any occasion. Come enjoy a glass, and help us support our neighbours.
Sweet mango with a habanero kick to balance. This isn’t your average margarita, and honestly, we wouldn’t want it to be. Tequila, triple sec, and fresh lime juice get stirred together with mango juice and habanero purée, then finished with a Tajín rim and jalapeño garnish for good measure. One sip and you might just be planning your next patio visit around this one.
Gritty rock. Irish fiddle. Nearly 10,000 km of cycle touring and a #1 chart debut behind her. Edmonton's 0Stella is bringing her raw, razor-sharp sound to Red Bird Brewing on Thursday, September 3rd, and it's completely free. Her latest album Pendulum State has already topped charts across the country, and her live shows are known for pulling crowds into English and Irish sing-alongs you won't forget. Pair the music with a wood-fired pizza and a pint from our ever-changing tap list. This is what a Thursday night in Kelowna should feel like.
Cherry red lipstick, vintage neon, and a soundtrack that doesn't apologize for any of it. Backyard Sessions is turning Red Bird's patio into a retro roadside motel with a backyard blues club problem. Viral sensation KELS headlines, bringing the "dirty blues" sound that's landed her co-signs from Big Boi and Timbaland and a stage at the NBA Finals. She's joined by Vancouver soul powerhouse Rebecca Sichon and jazz-pop crooner Ben Dunnill (who knows over 5,000 songs by heart, try to stump him). This one's going to move fast, grab your tickets
On September 5th, Red Bird's patio is going global. Picture neon, disco lights and a dance floor ready for a serious lineup. Twenty-year global bass pioneers Delhi 2 Dublin headline, bringing their genre-blurring Bhangra-electronic-reggae sound fresh off their anniversary tour, backed by Vancouver's Afro Reggae powerhouse Mivule and Kelowna's own acid jazz favourites, Tonight's Forecast. Wear your brightest colours, bold prints, and anything you can boogie in. Tickets are moving fast, grab yours now!
On September 9th, Red Bird welcomes Vieux Farka Touré, the Malian guitar virtuoso known worldwide as "The Hendrix of the Sahara”, for a rare Okanagan performance. Son of the legendary Ali Farka Touré, Vieux has spent two decades carving his own path through desert blues, collaborating with the likes of Khruangbin, Dave Matthews, and Derek Trucks along the way. Opening the night is Guinea-born, Canada-based guitarist Alpha Yaya Diallo, whose fluid fretwork and rich West African roots have made him one of world music's hottest live acts. Expect blistering guitar work, an unmistakable charisma, and a room full of people who came for the music and stayed for the pizza and pints. Grab your ticket before this one sells out.
Elliott BROOD brings their acclaimed alt-country sound to Red Bird Brewing September 10 with support from Dan Tait. Expect gritty folk rock, powerful storytelling, and a live show that balances raw energy with emotional depth. With over two decades of touring and award-winning music behind them, Elliott BROOD remains one of Canada’s most compelling live bands. Settle in for an unforgettable night of live music in Kelowna.
Fifteen years, three continents, and one camper van at a time, Kim Churchill has busked his way from small-town Australia to Glastonbury stages and 60 million streams, and on September 12th he's bringing that whole wild journey to the Red Bird Stage. Known for his one-man-band energy and the Platinum-selling hit "Window to the Sky," Kim writes his songs at sunrise and performs them like it's the last show he'll ever play. Local Okanagan musician Kailee Duggan provides an intimate warm up for the night ahead. Expect soulful folk, road-worn storytelling, and a night of intimate and magnetic live performance. Tickets are limited, so get 'em now before they're gone!
Some guitar players are good. Garrett Mason is the guy other great guitar players talk about. Considered by many to be Canada's finest, Garrett blends blues, soul, funk, country, and psychedelia into a live show that's earned him praise from Joel Plaskett, JP Cormier, Bahamas, and The Sheepdogs. On Thursday, September 17th, he brings that sound to Red Bird Brewing for a free night of live music in Kelowna. It's not every day you get free live music this good, so come early and grab your seat.
Gypsy jazz meets surf rock meets old-timey swing. That's the sound Django's Jewels are bringing to Red Bird Brewing on Saturday, September 19th for a free live show, and it's not one you'll want to miss. This talented crew of BC musicians has spent years touring the province, building a live show packed with virtuosic playing and impossible-not-to-dance-to grooves. Kansas-lee opens the night with her powerful voice and potent lyrics. Bring your friends and get ready for a set that jumps genres as easily as it gets the room moving.
Toronto's The Free Label is bringing their signature blend of 70s disco, 90s R&B, and pure funk energy to Red Bird Brewing on Thursday, September 24th, and they're not coming alone. West Coast instrumental fusion act SØURDØPE opens the night with warm horns and grooving rhythms inspired by the tides of the Pacific Northwest. With over 15 million views on their live performances and collaborations with Grammy-nominated artists under their belt, The Free Label has earned a reputation as one of the most electric live acts touring today. Tickets won't last, click through for the full lineup details and to grab yours before this one sells out.
Two of Canada's most groundbreaking Indigenous electronic artists are sharing one stage, and it's happening on our patio. On September 25, JUNO Award winner Shub (formerly DJ Shub, co-founder of A Tribe Called Red and creator of powwow-step) co-headlines with Vancouver's Handsome Tiger, whose bass-heavy sets have lit up Shambhala, Bass Coast, and Lightning in a Bottle. Together they're bringing a night of thundering bass, ancestral rhythms, and pure dance-floor energy to North Kelowna. This is not a night to sit this one out. Details and tickets inside.
One night, one stage, one community showing up for its neighbours. Okanagan Strong brings live music to Red Bird Brewing's patio for a good cause. Every dollar from tickets, donations and sponsorships goes straight to wildfire relief funds supporting the South and North Okanagan. Bring a donation for the Fill the Truck drive with Mamas for Mamas, drop some extra change in the QR-code donation box, or simply show up and enjoy the music, knowing your $10 ticket is making a real difference. Kids 12 and under get in free. Artist lineup coming soon, but you'll want to mark this one down now.
Edwin Raphael doesn't just write songs, he builds entire worlds out of them. This Montreal based artist, whose roots trace back to Kerala, India, blends Eastern scales with Western folk pop to create something that feels like nowhere you've been and everywhere you've dreamed of. On Sunday, September 27th from 6 to 9pm, he brings that sound to Red Bird Brewing's patio for a free, all ages show. Curious what a garden grown from memory and migration sounds like? Come find out for yourself.
