A full night celebrating Okanagan music, art, and community

Local Love continues Friday, June 19 with the second night of Red Bird Brewing’s annual music festival celebrating the artists helping shape the Okanagan music scene.

Presented in partnership with Creative Okanagan, Local Love is all about spotlighting local musicians, fostering connection, and creating space for the region’s creative community to thrive. Friday night expands the energy with a diverse lineup spanning indie rock, singer-songwriter, hip hop, R&B, and live DJ sets, turning Red Bird into a full evening celebration of Okanagan talent.

Rotary Crew

Opening the evening is Rotary Crew, a Kelowna-based improvisational funk duo featuring drummer Ethan McKibben (Apollo Suns) and organist Jordan Leibel (Pianote). Built around spontaneous groove, high-level musicianship, and a “form-optional” approach to live performance, the pair creates massive, evolving soundscapes using only drums and organ. Drawing inspiration from the improvisational spirit of Herbie Hancock’s Head Hunters, Rotary Crew moves seamlessly from tight minimalist grooves to explosive wall-of-sound moments, delivering a live experience that feels both hypnotic and deeply alive. Their chemistry on stage transforms every performance into a rhythmic, high-energy journey built entirely in real time.
