A celebration of Okanagan music, community, and local talent
Local music takes centre stage at Red Bird Brewing on Thursday, June 18 for the opening night of Local Love, our annual two-day festival celebrating the incredible artists shaping the Okanagan music scene.
Created to spotlight local talent and foster community connection through live music, Local Love brings together a diverse lineup of Okanagan musicians for two nights of performances on the Red Bird stage. This year, we’re proud to partner with Creative Okanagan, an organization that continues to play a major role in supporting and growing the arts and live music community throughout the region.
Thursday night’s lineup showcases a mix of country, roots, Americana, blues, and singer-songwriter talent from across the valley.
Makayla Charleen
Opening the evening is the Makayla Charleen Duo. Known for her bold modern country sound and emotionally honest songwriting, Makayla has quickly built momentum across Western Canada through her energetic live performances and growing catalogue of original music. Her songs have received national exposure on SiriusXM’s Top of the Country Radio, helping establish her as one of the Okanagan’s rising country artists.
Dirt Road Opera
Also performing is Dirt Road Opera, a Kelowna-based alt-country and Americana group led by BC Country Music Hall of Fame inductees Rachel Matkin and Barry Mathers. Known for their exceptional harmonies, award-winning songwriting, and seasoned musicianship, the band blends roots influences with heartfelt storytelling and decades of experience on Canadian stages.
Cal Volpe Trio
The Cal Volpe Trio brings a different energy to the evening, weaving together funky grooves, blues jams, rock riffs, and improvisational musicianship. Formed through Kelowna’s local jam scene, the trio’s live performances are dynamic, spontaneous, and driven by strong musical chemistry.
Gracie & The Field Mice
Closing the night is Gracie Field Band, fronted by Kelowna’s 2025 Top Talent winner Gracie Field. An emerging musical force blending elements of R&B and soul, Gracie brings emotional storytelling and smooth, expressive vocals to the stage. Joined by Hayden, Connor, Alex, and Robyn, collectively known as The Field Mice, the group transforms her songs into a full-band live experience filled with warmth, groove, and connection. Together, they bring a fresh and dynamic energy to the Local Love stage while continuing to build momentum within the Okanagan music scene.
Local Love is more than just a concert series. It’s a celebration of the artists, venues, organizations, and audiences that continue to build and support live music in the Okanagan.
Come discover new favourites, support local musicians, and spend a summer evening surrounded by great music, craft beer, and community.
