Cinematic indie-pop, sister harmonies, and songs that linger long after the lights go down.

Vox Rea bring their immersive, cinematic indie-pop sound to Red Bird Brewing for a night rooted in atmosphere, emotion, and connection. Fronted by sisters Kate and Lauren Kurdyak, the Canadian collective is known for crafting music that blurs the line between poetry and philosophy — intimate one moment, expansive the next.

Blending Laurel Canyon–style harmonies with modern, synth-laced textures, Vox Rea create songs that explore fate, freedom, and the art of letting go. Since the release of their debut single Dose Me Up in 2020, the band has amassed over 5 million Spotify streams, earned placements on New Music Friday Canada, and received airplay across CBC, BBC Radio 6, and stations around the world. Their cinematic sound has also appeared in hit series including Sweet Magnolias and Orphan Black.

Their sophomore album Art Oracles, recorded in a secluded cabin on southern Vancouver Island, is a deeply reflective body of work inspired by the natural world and the weight of time. From piano-driven ballads to choral, folk-leaning moments born in rainforest solitude, the record showcases the sisters’ striking vocal interplay — smoky alto meeting willowy soprano — and their gift for turning existential questions into something beautifully human.

Renowned for their captivating live performances, Vox Rea have toured extensively across North America, the UK, and Europe, appearing at festivals such as SXSW, Reeperbahn, The Great Escape, and Treefort Music Fest. This Red Bird show offers a rare chance to experience their profound, emotionally resonant sound in an intimate setting — a night designed to be felt as much as heard.

Elodie

The supporting act is Élodie Orsei, a French-Canadian pop-soul artist whose sound blends smooth grooves with modern pop influences inspired by artists like Charlotte Cardin and Kali Uchis. Singing in both French and English, Élodie’s music explores love, identity, and the journey of self-discovery while celebrating her Francophone roots in Western Canada. A recent semi-finalist at the Granby International Song Festival and a Trille Or nominee, she is currently touring British Columbia ahead of the release of her upcoming EP in 2026, bringing her magnetic live performance to stages across the province.

Nicky Mackenzie

Also joining the lineup is Nicky MacKenzie, a pop-soul artist originally from Salt Spring Island whose powerful voice and heartfelt songwriting draw inspiration from artists like Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, and Joss Stone. Known for uncovering deep emotion through her lyrics and expressive vocal style, Nicky has quickly gained recognition in Canada’s music scene. She was selected as one of five winners of the Canadian Songwriting Challenge and appeared on the first season of CTV’s The Launch. With new material on the way produced by Gus Van Go, Herag Sanbalian, and Jasper Kuijper, Nicky continues to build momentum while performing at major Canadian festivals including Phillips Backyard and Rifflandia.
