Red Bird Brewing is excited to welcome Sam Balson for a full-length live performance on Saturday, February 28. Known for his earthy, soul-driven approach to folk music, Sam’s songs ebb and flow with warmth, honesty, and a timeless sense of heart. A lifelong musician originally from Bowmanville, Ontario and now based in Vancouver, Balson draws deeply from family, friendship, and love lost and found.
A multi-instrumentalist comfortable on guitar, banjo, and mandolin, Sam’s performances balance thoughtful songwriting with moments of striking instrumental skill. His distinct gravelly vocals shine whether he’s delivering intimate acoustic moments or weaving in rich, roots-inspired solos. Releases like Shutters and Raking Leaves On Broadway highlight his ability to honour traditional folk and Americana while still sounding entirely his own.

Opening the night is Kelowna-based dream folk duo Josh + Bex. Blending Josh’s Eastern soul-folk influences with Bex’s melody-driven West Coast sensibility, the pair create music that feels tender, transparent, and deeply human.
