Synth-driven indie pop with heart, grit, and serious energy.

Bold, synth-driven, and impossible to ignore, Hyaenas has quickly become one of Canada’s most exciting emerging indie bands. On Thursday, August 13, the Vancouver-based quartet brings their energetic live show to the Red Bird Brewing outdoor stage for a free night of music under the Okanagan sky.

Blending pulsing synths, gritty guitars, soaring vocal harmonies, and emotionally charged songwriting, Hyaenas creates a sound that feels both nostalgic and entirely modern. Drawing comparisons to artists like The Beaches and The Go-Go’s, their music explores the complexities of human nature through songs that are equal parts vulnerable, empowering, and irresistibly catchy.

Comprised of two married couples whose undeniable chemistry fuels every performance, Hyaenas has built a reputation for delivering high-energy live shows that leave audiences feeling connected, inspired, and ready to dance. Their debut EP Little Trophy launched the band onto festival stages across Western Canada, earned placements in Netflix’s My Life with the Walter Boys, debuted at #11 on the National !Earshot Radio Charts, and helped establish them as one of the country’s most promising new acts.

Since then, the band has continued to build momentum with appearances at major festivals, Pride celebrations across Canada, and support slots alongside artists including Shred Kelly, Kimmortal, and ACTORS. Their growing catalogue has resonated with audiences looking for music that balances infectious hooks with something deeper to say.

Now entering a new chapter with their forthcoming album Human Nature, Hyaenas is pushing their songwriting even further, tackling themes of identity, burnout, self-discovery, and resilience through a collection of songs that feel both deeply personal and universally relatable.

Whether you’re discovering them for the first time or already a fan, this is the perfect opportunity to experience one of Canada’s most compelling indie bands in an intimate outdoor setting.

Grab a drink, find a spot on the patio, and enjoy a summer evening of live music at Red Bird Brewing.
