On Saturday, September 19th, Django’s Jewels bring their genre-bending sound to our stage for a night that proves live music in Kelowna doesn’t get more original than this.

Django’s Jewels are a collective of seasoned BC musicians who take gypsy jazz and old-timey standards and run them through a filter of surf rock twang and world music flavour. The result is a sound that’s equal parts vintage speakeasy and beachside dance party, and it’s exactly the kind of unexpected mash-up that keeps our regulars coming back. This crew has spent years crisscrossing the BC music circuit, sharpening a live show that’s earned a reputation for being an absolute can’t-miss.

Expect virtuosic musicianship, playful energy and enough toe-tapping tunes to get even the most reluctant dancers moving.

Opening the night is Kansas-lee, a singer-songwriter who has spent over a decade honing her craft and has the soulful folk sound to prove it. Her latest studio album, “Ostara,” is the culmination of that journey, showcasing a powerful voice, intricate guitar rhythms and lyrics with the kind of quiet potency that lingers long after the last note.

It’s the perfect warm-up to a night of genre-bending music, setting an intimate tone before Django’s Jewels take things in a completely different, equally wonderful direction.
