Kelowna’s Breakout Country Star is Coming Home
Kelowna, get ready, the city’s own rising country star is coming home. On Friday, August 29th from 8–11pm, Red Bird Brewing welcomes Dawson Gray for a night of live country music you won’t want to miss.
This show is personal. Dawson’s story started right here in downtown Kelowna, busking on the same streets our brewery calls home, before turning heads across the country. Since then, he’s built a reputation as one of Canadian country music’s most original voices, a self-made artist who insists on leading rather than following in an industry built on imitation. Known for his sharp songwriting and electric live shows, Dawson has racked up countless sold-out headline dates across Canada, surpassed 8 million career streams worldwide, and shared stages with acts like ERNEST, Dasha, Cameron Whitcomb, Jordan Davis, and James Barker Band.
Dawson’s path to music wasn’t the traditional one. A career in professional baseball was derailed by an unexpected eye-disorder diagnosis, and it was in that unexpected gap that he picked up a guitar for the first time. What started as a way to fill the void baseball left behind quickly became something much bigger. By summer 2021, he was busking on the streets of downtown Kelowna. Busking led to paid gigs, paid gigs led to headline shows, and by 2023 Dawson had left his post-grad job behind to chase music full-time.
He hasn’t slowed down since. His singles “Friends With The Bar Staff” (2024) and “Chevy Back” (2025) both earned Apple Music cover nods, while 2024’s “Back To Leaving” became his first single to cross 1 million streams. In 2025, Dawson released his debut EP, Chevy Back, and hit the road on the 23-date Chevy Back Road Show Tour across Canada — including a run alongside Nashville star Dasha on her Welcome to Dashville Tour. He opened 2026 with “When We Die,” a single marking a bold new chapter and sound for the young artist. Dawson Gray isn’t a name you’ll only hear once.
Grab your ticket, grab a table, and settle in with a pint. Great music and good times weave together to create an unforgettable homecoming party.
The Redwood Twins
Kicking off the night are The Redwood Twins, an identical twin duo whose sound bridges their Canadian roots with modern folk and Americana.
Known for their unmistakable twin harmonies, vivid storytelling, and emotionally grounded performances, the Twins deliver a live show that never sits still. One song might be an intimate acoustic moment with two voices locked in perfect harmony, while the next kicks into a full-throttle, electric-guitar-driven performance.
For over a year, the pair have been pursuing music full-time out of Nashville, TN, and are back in Canada this summer for their debut tour, hitting festival stages including Sunfest Country, Jazz Fest, Peach Fest, and Seafair, alongside a mix of headline and support dates. They’ve also just dropped their fourth single of the year, “Empty Handed,” now streaming everywhere.
From acoustic harmonies to full-throttle energy, The Redwood Twins will set the stage before Dawson Gray brings it home.
