Ride, connect, and give back with Kelowna’s community

Community, movement, and purpose come together at Red Bird Brewing on Thursday, April 30 for the YMCA Team Cycle Challenge, a high-energy fundraiser supporting the YMCA’s Cycle for Strong Kids initiative.

Co-hosted with the YMCA of Southern Interior BC, this daytime event builds momentum toward their annual Cycle for Strong Kids fundraiser, helping provide access to health, wellness, and support programs for children, youth, and families across the Okanagan.

Throughout the day, Red Bird’s patio, grass, and parking lot will transform into an interactive cycling and community activation space. Teams and guests will take part in a series of stationary bike challenges, riding in 10-minute intervals to contribute toward a collective goal of 175 kilometres in celebration of the YMCA’s 175th anniversary.

Participation is open to everyone. Guests can hop on a bike for a minimum $10 donation per ride, supporting a team of their choice while contributing to the overall fundraising goal. Alongside the cycling challenge, interactive “power-up” activations will keep the energy high, allowing participants to boost ride times, choose the music, or add fun challenges through additional donations.

The atmosphere will be driven by live DJ sets from DJ Invizible and on-site hosting, creating a lively and engaging environment from start to finish. Whether you are riding, cheering, or simply taking it all in, this event is designed to bring the community together in a meaningful way.

Food and beverages will be available throughout the event, including Red Bird’s craft beer, cocktails, and full kitchen menu. A feature YMCA Pale Ale will be highlighted, with a portion of proceeds supporting the cause.

Prizes will be awarded to top fundraising teams and individuals, along with additional giveaways throughout the day. Red Bird Brewing will also be entering a team, inviting staff, guests, and the wider community to get involved.

This is a free-to-attend event, with donations encouraged. Whether you are riding for a cause, supporting a team, or stopping by to be part of the atmosphere, the YMCA Team Cycle Challenge is a chance to connect, give back, and be part of something bigger.
